Joe Booth was born in Gastonia, North Carolina. He attended
undergraduate school at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. After
obtaining his B.S. in finance, Mr. Booth worked at a mortgage bank in Raleigh for several
years before attending law school at Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York.
After graduating from law school and returning home to North Carolina, Mr. Booth joined
Sharpless & Stavola, P.A. in January 1998. Since that time, his practice has
evolved from almost entirely representing healthcare providers in malpractice matters to a
practice divided between malpractice, construction and commercial litigation. He is
admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in North Carolina, as well as the
United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Mr. Booth has litigated cases in both the state and federal courts of North Carolina, and
his current practice regularly finds him engaged in a variety of malpractice and
commercial matters in those courts. He has also argued a number of cases before the
North Carolina Court of Appeals and was involved in an important decision by the North
Carolina Supreme Court that established a litigants right to immediately appeal a
court order directing the production of confidential material.
Joe and his wife, Shelly, currently reside in Greensboro. They enjoy traveling,
going out to dinner, and visiting with family and friends in Raleigh and Charlotte.
