Brian Alligood received his B.A., with honors, from the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his J.D. from Duke University School of Law.
Mr. Alligoods litigation practice is concentrated in the areas of professional
liability and employment law. In professional liability matters, Mr. Alligood
primarily represents physicians, hospitals, nursing homes, and other health care
providers. He regularly defends such clients against claims of medical malpractice
and also offers general counsel in the field of health care law.
In employment-related matters, Mr. Alligood represents a wide variety of clients,
including private corporations, municipalities, school boards, and churches. In
addition to his state and federal court practice, he appears regularly before the Equal
Employment Opportunity Commission on behalf of employers. Mr. Alligood has lectured
and published on a variety of employment law topics. His most recent published work
is related to the topics of sexual harassment, discrimination in promotion decisions, and
negligent hiring and retention of employees. He is a member of the North Carolina
and Georgia state bars.
